HR GENERALIST - NORTH AMERICAN BANCARD - TROY MI

 

Job Summary:
The HR Generalist will provide support to our HR Department, ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. The person in this role will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities and will apply their business knowledge and human resources expertise related to employee relations, workers compensation, unemployment, policies and procedures, onboarding, performance management and other duties as assigned.

What else you will be doing:

  • Support the HR department in implementing programs to help improve the employee experience
  • Assist in developing, executing and communicating procedures and policies
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation and upkeep of the employee handbook
  • Assist in administering benefits, compensation and employee performance programs
  • Be the primary back up for the HR Business Partners and Coordinator as needed
  • Build, nurture and maintain strong working relationships with team members, leaders and vendors.
  • Maintain and update employee files and electronic records
  • Monitors and responds to inquiries received from employees in the HR electronic mailbox
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned by Director
  • Support and resolve complex employee relations issues; conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations as needed
  • Keep abreast of changes in employment law

Job Requirements

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an HR Generalist.
  • Expertise in HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience supporting a variety of business units.
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations and performance management.
  • Previous experience using an HRIS in generating reports and implementing staff changes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be comfortable communicating with all levels of management.
  • Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations.
  • Ability to remain objective in all situations and use discretion at all times.
  • Resourceful, problem-solving aptitude.
  • Proficient in creating reports and presentations.
  • Ability to stay organized in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success in juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proven partnering skills and ability to develop business acumen.

 

 

How to be an all star:

  • PHR Certification
  • Previous experience working in a start-up/entrepreneurial culture
  • Experience with ADP/Ultimate Software
  • Experience using Google Applications
