TAX ASSOCIATE --Are you looking to continue your path in Tax?  Do you enjoy the research, detailed work, and working with others?

Our tax associate prepares and files tax returns for multiple entities, maintains tax records, and conducts research and analysis.  You will provide recommendations to solve tax related issues and prepare reports to maintain regulatory compliance.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A PART TIME POSITION.

 

Here is what else you might do:

  • Prepare and file sales and use, property, and other non-income tax returns for all entities.
  • Conduct research, analysis, and provide resolution to payroll related tax notices and inquiries.
  • Work closely with external accounting firm regarding the preparation of annual tax packages for both the company and its owner.
  • Support manager with gathering of data from various legal entities and functional units in order to comply with state escheated property laws and regulations.
  • Support manager with preparation and filing of amended federal and state returns for revised credits and deductions.
  • Support manager with income tax research, planning, and audits.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as required.

Job Requirements

Here is what we need from you:

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting / Tax with four years of related experience required; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting / Tax with two years of related experience required
  • Ability to independently prepare tax returns of low to moderate complexity
  • Basic knowledge of accounting concepts, familiarity of various tax forms
  • Confidentiality is required as this position handles sensitive information
  • Knowledge and understanding of corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns
  • Prior experience researching federal and state tax codes to resolve tax issues
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention detail
  • Competent with Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Desire to develop skills

This position is located in our Troy, Michigan office

Internal pay grade: 27
